Instructor Courses- BLS or Heartsaver

Instructor courses are for AHA providers, and offer training so that the instructor will be proficient in teaching and demonstration all the skills of that discipline. You cannot become an instructor without a current certificate in the specific discipline and a mastery of the subject matter. Disciplines include ACLS, BLS, PALS and Heartsaver. Students will need to successfully complete the discipline-specific classroom Instructor Course and be monitored teaching your first course within six months of completing the discipline-specific classroom Instructor Course.
 
Instructor courses are run approximately once a quarter, and are based on demand. In order to become an American Heart Association instructor you need to be currently certified in the discipline in which you wish to become an instructor and be a subject matter expert.  In addition, you need to show alignment with an AHA training center. As part of the process, to acquire your instructor certification you need to be observed teaching one class. Courses are approximately 6 hours long.
